Dixie
“Dixie came into our lives at the end of May 2001. The first few weeks were rough on all of us. Dixie had spent most of her life in a animal shelter, then in a foster home. When she was bought to our home, for a trial weekend she was very scared and confused. She missed her foster mom and didn’t want to have anything to do with anyone of us in the house. Dixie and our other dog, Freddie, got a long ok. But our cat, Ninja, didn’t want her in the house and made this known to everyone. Ninja and Dixie were constantly fighting, Dixie was constantly bothering the parakeet. Luckily, she never knocked the cage over. For a few days I didn’t think it was going to work out, but it did. After a few weeks of a lot of love, patience, understanding and prayers. It just seemed like all of a sudden, everything worked out. Dixie and Ninja now have a understanding, Dixie doesn’t even look at the parakeet. Dixie is a wonderful, sweet, loving dog. She is very devoted to everyone in the house, loves to go for walks, and insists on going to bed at 11 PM every night. She likes laying on the picnic table to sun herself. She loves playing with her dog toys, which are all over the house. I have always adopted from animal shelters. People need to know that there are really some wonderful, sweet, loving pets that are just waiting for that special person/family to come along to adopt them. If you have a lot of love, patience, and understanding, almost anyone can find their perfect pet, right at their local animal shelter.”
